About

Hi, I’m Ms. H!

A bit about me professionally:

I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BA (Hons) in English Studies in 2011.

I then graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2012 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, specialising in Secondary English.

I worked at an Academy in Birmingham for 4 years, teaching AQA GCSE English Language and Literature, AQA A Level English Literature and dabbling in Drama and Music.

Then I decided I needed a change and moved to Shanghai, China.

I worked at top tier international school in Shanghai for 3 years, this time teaching Cambridge IGCSE English Language and Literature, as well as learning to teach the International Baccalaureate (IB). I quickly specialised in IB English Literature A, becoming the Literature Coordinator for English and then the IB Pastoral Coordinator. I was lucky enough to be sent on two training courses with IB and have up to Cat 3 for the new Literature A specification.

I initially decided to move home to the UK for personal reasons, but was ultimately pushed out of China early by Covid-19. During the pandemic, I learned to teach online and started creating video content for my students across the sea.

Now it’s time to challenge myself and take all of this further. As a teacher, it’s easy to notice how little there is online for IB students who want to revise Literature. I want to help! It is my aim to create quality content for IB students so that they can have access to resources away from school. I also hope to help other English teachers, who might be new to IB or struggling to find the online support they need to get started with specific texts or assessment.

Despite listing my entire CV online, I do value my privacy and therefore will not be revealing my name or current place of work. However, I hope that I have shared enough with you to emphasise not only my qualifications but my passion for teaching English!
